WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?  

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore volume, enhance facial contours, and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Made from substances that naturally occur in the body—most commonly hyaluronic acid—fillers can be used to subtly define areas such as the lips, cheeks, jawline, and under-eye region. One advanced option is Radiesse®, a biostimulatory filler that not only provides immediate volume and contouring but also stimulates your body’s natural collagen production over time. Composed of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a smooth gel, Radiesse is ideal for areas like the cheeks, jawline, and lower face, helping improve skin firmness and structure while delivering long-lasting, natural-looking results.

WHAT AREAS CAN DERMAL FILLERS ADDRESS?

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? 

PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES 

A few simple guidelines before your treatment can make a difference between a good result and a fantastic one:  

--If you have a history of herpes (cold sores) with outbreaks more than 4 times a year it is recommended that you are pretreated with an anti-viral medication.  **Please let us know that you need a prescription if you do not have this medication on hand.** 

--If you develop a cold/flu, cold sore, blemish, or rash, etc. in the area to be treated prior to your appointment, you must reschedule (we will not treat you).  

--It is recommended, if you have a special event or vacation coming up, schedule your treatment 4 weeks in advance.  

--It is recommended you discontinue the use of Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week before and after treatment to minimize bruising and bleeding.  

--It is recommended that you avoid: alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. (All of these factors may increase risk of bruising)  

POST TREATMENT  

Bruising and swelling are likely. The swelling typically lasts for 24 hours but patients can feel puffy (especially the lips) for 48 hours after treatment. The worst of the swelling is usually the morning after your lip filler. It is not recommended that you be treated with filler within 2-4 weeks of a special occasion. Patients can take arnica and pineapple starting a few days before your appointment to help minimize the bruising and swelling.  

--Do NOT, touch, press, rub, or manipulate the implanted areas for 6 hours after treatment. You can cause irritation, sores, and or problems, and possible scarring if you do.  

--Avoid Vigorous Exercise and Sun and Heat exposure for 3 days after treatment.  -We recommend you AVOID Aspirin, Motrin, Gingko Biloba, Garlic, Flax Oil, Cod Liver Oil, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, or any other essential fatty acids at least 3 days to 1 week after treatment.   

--It is best to wear no makeup or lipstick until the next day. Earlier use can cause pustules. If you must wear makeup we recommend good quality mineral makeup.  -------We recommend you AVOID: alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplement, high-sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbohydrates (you may eat fruit), spicy foods, and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment  

--Regarding your Lips: “Don’t Love Them or Hate Them for 2 weeks. You must wait 2 weeks before retreating or correction.  

WHAT OTHER TYPES OF INJECTIONS MIGHT I CONSIDER FOR THE TREATMENT OF FACIAL LINES?
