MICRONEEDLING WITH SKINPEN

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that helps minimize the signs of aging, improve the appearance of acne scars and rejuvenate aging skin. The SkinPen microneedling device causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing process. The micro-injuries trigger the release of cytokines and growth factors that lead to remodeling of collagen and elastin.

While microneedling is a highly effective treatment on its own, we can make it even more powerful by applying PRF directly during the microneedling procedure or immediately after. 

PRF works in a similar way as platelet-rich plasma (PRP). With both treatments, we take an extremely small sample of blood from you and separate its components in a centrifuge. With PRF, we arrive at a concentrated fibrin solution. When we apply it to your skin after microneedling, this potent solution can penetrate into the deeper layers of your skin through the channels the microneedling created. 

PRF derives its effectiveness from a rich concentration of fibrin in plasma that calls forth your growth factors. This is achieved through a slower centrifuge spin that is less damaging to your cells than when PRP is created. In our experience, bruising is less with PRF as no anticoagulants are involved in creating the plasma unlike the process of creating PRP. 

The treatment simulates what happens when you get hurt, your body naturally directs these growth factors to the injury to support your body’s regenerative processes. By delivering the PRF with microneedling, we stimulate and support your body’s ability to make new, healthy, beautiful skin.
